Travelling to Jakarta

Welcome to The Glamorous Jakarta

Jakarta is a city with such a big contrast. Among its hundreds of stylish highrise buildings, millions of the poor struggle for their life as the money is getting tighter and tighter. It makes me realize that the number of skyscrapers doesn't always go in line with the prosperity of a nation. I remember Norway being one of the richest countries on the planet, but its capital has only a few "skyscrapers". The tallest buiding they have has only 33 floors and it's the tallest one in Scandinavia. What a humble country it is he he ;) But poverty is not a crime. Nothing can stop the Big Durian(Jakarta's nickname) from growing larger and larger, the new skrscrapers are built higher and higher making it the only city in the entire country which has an international and cosmopolitan atmosphere. Jakarta will just keep on flourishing. I was lucky enough to be able to make a trip there back in January this year. I always miss the time I and my buddies drove on the Jakarta streets which were 3 or 4 times wider than those in my hometown, Surabaya; while admiring the classy highrise bulidings along the streets.

"Oh my God, incredible!",I said the words repeatedly making my buddy who was at the wheel got a little irritated (Yeah he's a Jakarta-born so he probably gets pretty fed up with such sights).

"Oh gosh you sound so corny Dian, but I can understand it. Surabaya has nothing to compare to Jakarta."

"I know.", I replied, no defense that time because we were on the same point ha ha ;) I had a great sightseeing and shopping experience in Jakarta, just too bad during the whole week we went to no other places but the malls and the National Monument. Can't you imagine it? I came all the way from Surabaya, caught the morning flight, but it all ended up at restaurants in malls or a cinema. No one was to take the blame, it was all due to the bad weather. My luck ran out ha ha.
